Allison vs. Paris
A question for experienced Idol Watchers – how do you rate Allison against “Miss P” Paris from three years ago? Is Allison Better? Not as good? About the same as Miss P?
totally my opinion Ray, but two different ladies can't compare. Back in the day Paris was one of my favorites, it killed me when she was voted off...I still hold a grudge that Mandisa was voted away...that being said I love Allison--the rock and roll chic in me! I think they're both amazing but in the present day I'm w/ Allison--wish I could keep my hair red like her :) I do not see her "winning" the AI title but hope that she goes xtremly far.
A good night to settle things for me re my top three. In that American Idol is about the recording contract, Kris has gone to the top of the list. Mr Mellow, Mr Consistent no matter the genre, Mr Mutitalented instrumentally. Danny is a sweetvoiced, from-the-heart singer that will show through on recordings, with a unique voice to boot. And he can sing! While Adam is the "best voice" Idol has ever had, he is essentially a performer who feeds off a crowd - which is often what carries him "over the top". That will never work in the recording studio where every single note, breath, movement must be totally subdued and under control. High notes must be totally under control as well as the lowest of tones. Oversinging is a killer in the studio. Controlled tones with heart, riffing with utter ease and undersinging is what works in the studio. Like his performance last week. So Sweet! I don't say Adam is above learning that but right now he has a bit of Norman (remember him??) in him that he has to tame. No spotlights are in the studio. Just you and that technology that picks up and amplifies the tiniest breath and throws it back at you with force. Unless he learns to do that and leave the performing for the stage, he won't sell what one only LISTENS to with staying power.
Well do I recall Paris. A very talented young lady. I would feel less awful about Allison leaving than Paris so I suppose that is a revelation for me about whom I think is best. I hope dearly that it is not true she had a child! I SO agree with Gina about Mandisa - an awesome, awesome talent!! There definitely was a vote against her weight (who sees that on a CD?) Folks get caught in side issues all too often. And Allison will go far. A totally naturally gifted singer. A few more years and a few more experiences in life will only make her better at nuance.
Hi Ray's mom! I truly enjoy reading your comments. Here's the article I read about Paris and hre baby... http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20231458,00.html
Season 5 was a strange season. Still can't believe Taylor won.
Nanette, thanks for the "heads-up". I had not heard that and had hoped it was only a rumor. However, having read the article, I can only say "how sad". What makes me feel better, though, is that Megan is gone. Thanks for taking the time to send me the web address. I do wish her well, though.

I had to google Paris to see what she looked like. I honestly don't remember her but I DID learn that she had a baby girl back in October.
