Idol giveth – Carlos
Idol giveth – many shots of Alexis – work those thigh-high boots, girlfriend!
Idol giveth (quite sadly) – the return of Oil Rig Dude and Simon-Crushing Megan
Idol giveth – a reminder of how good Allison is
Idol taketh – Adam
More to say after I work through the stages of grief. I seem to be cycling between shock and anger.

My head is spinning right now. Not sure I can watch this show again next season after such a travesty.
Proves why I quit voting 3 years ago: I finally gave up the illusion that it was about choosing the best and not the most popular or who the judges wanted or "pro" this or "anti" that.
I realized that each yearly show seemed to ends up this way so I ceased taking it seriously enough to vote.
Still, THIS one was the worst to me. Nothing against Kris - a wonderfully, truly humble young man, a truly nice person (even he said Adam should have won). His shock was genuine and how often will one be transparent enough to show that? I hope he does not lose that. It's rare.
The top three will be fine in the professional arena as will some of the others further back.
For the past couple of years, I view the show as entertainment so will continue to do so but less and less as "must see". And I find that the tryouts are the most entertaining of all! They appear to be the most non-partisan.
Ray's Mom... Always such a level head. Thanks for helping me put it all into perspective. Looking forward to Adam's first creation.
Also looking forward to Ray's post-grief blog entry.

Ray VERY VERY rarely gets angry so it'll be interesting to see him "grieving". Now that might be deserving of one of those statuettes Ryan gave out last night!!
p.s. All, it was SOOOO funny seeing Norman's "shtick" again. The guy is a riot....
What did you all think of Kara's composition? In spite of some media columnists panning it, I thought it was really good and really enjoyed Adam's rendition of it.
In that the winner was to make it their first recording, obviously it appeared to me to be penned for Adam with its soaring ranges (mistake! Obviously she has not watched past years or she'd have known what the actual outcome would be!)
I think I am officially done with Idol for the many reasons your MOM listed. Every year I just get more annoyed that it's a popularity contest. And with the amount of time spent watching it there are a million other shows that won't make me mad.
However - the Idol Giveth to little ole me last night - every other second I was squealing about something - Cyndi Lauper, Lionel Richie, Santana, KISS & Queen - come on ... my head was going to pop off. I just wanted all the AI contestants to stop singing though. Everyone except Adam with KISS - unbelievably CLASIC.
Ciao!
Ah, I thought it was a fun evening of entertainment....there were some great musical performances, Ray got to see Alexis, Norman got an additional five minutes of fame, Kara got to put 'bikini girl' in her place and show her what real talent looks like, and for a couple hours I didn't really care about much else in the world.
Besides, we all got to spend the AI season talking on Ray's blog, offering opinions, bantering back and forth, raving about the brilliance of our favorites, and poking fun at those we didn't like. I can't carry a tune in a bucket, but I got to spend a few months acting like I had something really valuable to share with the music industry. They'll both be rich and famous and I'll still be sitting here at this computer. It's not something that's worth being sad, annoyed, or angry about for me; it's just fun.
[I don't know what's wrong with me today, I sound like a cheerleader; I must be getting sick; I hope it isn't H1N1]
Great posts by all! Not sure about Ray, but my grief has ended. I have heard Adam in a couple of interviews and he is such a professional. He will be just fine. Considered dropping my AI obsession but you know I will be back. It's just so much fun. Thanks to all... it's been great chatting with you. Perhaps some day we will meet.
We'll be back and looking forward to it, with a realistic perspective. It's too entertaining to bypass.
Good to have an outlet to gripe among good-spirited people!! :0)
Until then, enjoy your Summer, Fall and most of the Winter, all.
I am working through my grief and will post soon.
